Profiles
New profiles and mug shots coming soon!!
Matt Ball
A defender who came into the game relatively late in life, only starting lacrosse at University. He is one of the oldest on the Nottingham squad. Well known for his turn of speed and occasionaly agricultural stick work.
Andy Hopkins
Andy is a product of Sheffield Steelers junior program and is now at Nottingham Uni. Andy has been at the heart of the Nottingham defence for 2 years now. Andy represented Wales at U-19 level and went on to play for the senior Wales squad at the 2010 World Championships in Manchester.
Tom Giddings
This lad is a monster at the face off X. His size, skill and stick speed make him very hard to beat. Missing in the 10-11 season whilst on placement. Returns this season to add his experience and talent to the squad again.
Wil Kent
Wil is in semi retirement due to family commitments. Still hoping to coax him back to the game after a season off.
Dan Macken
A tall Attacker grown at Brooklands. After being Joint top scorer in the 09-10 season Dan went on placement for the 10-11 season. Back to add his considerable talent to the squad in 11-12.
Neil McEwan
Neil Is A South African Native Who resided in Glasgow for 12 years and has now found his way to Nottingham. Though small in stature and relativley inexperienced at this level Neil has shown good technique and is a commited team member and eager to improve. Neil will slot into the Nottingham Midfield line well this season.
James Pilkington
After two seasons as an enigma, Pilko has now taken the captains armband for the 11-12 season. Hard working on and off the field means success will follow!
Jonny Heeley
The 08-09 season was Jonny's first in Div 2 and it was a steep learning curve. Didn't see much game time but trained hard. Will be looking to get on the field more in 09-10.
Dan Eddows
Dan didn't want to "try out" for the team last year so only played once when number were low. However, the ex-Mersey player will be welcomed in 09-10 when he can really add to the Nottingham midfield.
Former players
Tom Roche
Tom Is the first of Nottingham's new Loughborough contingent. He played his club lacrosse at Mellor before Uni and has slotted seemlessly into the starting team. Though Tom plays long pole he has proved himself an excellent face-off player too.
Dave Gill
Dave is another player currently studying at Lougborough Uni who makes the trip to Nottingham for his Northern lacrosse fix. His home club is Timperley, and Dave starred for Scotland at the 2010 World Championships in Manchester. This guy is a very fit, very quick midfielder who can move the ball fast in transition and also score goals.
Max Sandy
Missed half of last season through injury but still notched up 23 goals in 8 games. Max is a class act with a great lacrosse brain. He links up well with fellow England U-19 Tom Giddings on the face offs and works well up top when attacking. Max will be co-captain of the team this season. He is also 1st team captain of the Nottingham Uni team.
Ethan Jeffrey
Ethan has signed for Nottingham this year from Sheffield Steelers to gain match experience that he wasn't getting at the Yorkshire club. At only 17 he is the youngest member of the squad but has already shown himself to be a promising goalkeeper. The team hopes he sticks around for next season as well.
Will Sugden
The Final Loughborough student in the Nottingham squad, "Suggie" has shown his quality in the Mellor 1st team before coming to the East Midlands. Not noted to be the most reliable player however joint top scored in the 09-10 season. Hopefully more to come this year..
Jonny Clarke
Jonny is a leader in the defensive unit and certainly doesn't lack confidence in his ability. It's a good job his confidence isn't unfounded. Jonny is a skilful and knowledgeable defender who can get you out of a spot and likes things done his way. His experience and quality show on the field (but don't let him know I said that). Graduated in 2010.
Alex Castle
Alex was only around for the start last season as he chose to play for his home club Hitchin at the weekends however Alex has returned for 09-10 to challenge for a starting spot. Alex is a product of Loughborough lacrosse and stepped into NEMLA Div 2 well with strong, fast checking and good footwork. Graduated in 2010.
"Angry" Dave Raybould
Yet another Loughborough student in the Nottingham ranks. Dave will be strengthening the midfield this year, with his good turn of pace and shooting on the run he will be trying to get his fair share goals to help Nottingham do well. Graduated in 2010.
Luke Johnstone
A great find from Loughborough Uni. Luke is lacrosse mad and has a cannon shot from outside. Last season he stepped up his game to play a vital role in the midfield and also netted a good few goals. Luke will be looking to continue this form in 09-10. Graduated in 2010.
Dave Jordan
Dave is a quite spoken attacker who likes to play behind the cage and can feed well and score a few when required. Dave will be hoping to keep his place in the starting line up in 09-10. Graduated in 2010.
Ed Smith
Another Notts Uni player. Endlesss enthusiasm and confidence on the field which disguises his relative inexperience at this level. Here in 09-10 completing a masters degree. Graduated in 2010.
Doug McEkin
Dougie makes up the trio of Uni starters who step up to play club lacrosse. Only one appearance last season but trained regularly. Graduated in 2010.
Tony Marsh
The real old timer of the team who last season was coaxed out of semi retirement when needed. Tony is a GP but still enjoys a run out for Nottingham, a club which he started playing for in the mid 60's. Scored a goal in the final game of the 08-09 season which was much deserved. Tony played a major role in the England SUper Grand Masters squad at the FIL World lacrosse festival in Manchester in 2010. Tony has subsequently decided to hang up his playing boots. Hopefully he will still have a part to play in the clubs future.
Tom Parker
Made a couple of appearances mid season last year but never got the Nottingham bug. Tom is back studying for a masters at Loughborough Uni so could figure again in 09-10. Graduated in 2010.

Nottingham Lacrosse had a great weekend at the Bath 8's. Beer was consumed, lacrosse was played and we welcomed new members to the club. We finished 9th out of 33 teams. At one stage there was a danger of us finishing 8th and qualifying for the quarter finals. The team played 6 games, winning 4 and losing 2.
